Duke Athletics and Stanford Athletics have announced their 2019 participants in the Rubenstein-Bing Student-Athlete Civic Engagement Program.

Each student-athlete has committed to a 3-week immersive service experience in one of four locations: China, South Africa, Vietnam and, for the first time this year, Peru. The launch of the Peru program for summer 2019 marks the first time the ACE program line-up has changed since the program’s inception in 2016. During their three weeks in Cusco, Peru, ACE participants will work closely with a number of local partners and will be involved in a variety of conservation, education, and community development activities.

In the program’s fourth year of international service, ACE continues to select 40 student-athletes (20 Blue Devils and 20 Cardinal) annually to participate in service programs which include themes such as coaching, education, environmental sustainability and conservation, and more. Throughout the summer, blog posts written by the student-athletes will be posted on the ACE website.

This year’s class of ACE student-athletes represents 13 Duke Athletics teams and 20 Stanford Athletics teams. Six teams are sending their first ACE participants in 2019: Duke Softball, Men’s Cross-Country, and Women’s Fencing and Stanford Men’s Tennis, Women’s Volleyball, and Men’s Swimming & Diving.
