Tara Christensen, Duke Rowing and ACE in Vietnam ’16 alum, shares the value of an ACE experience during her speech at the recent Iron Duke Scholarship Dinner. She shares:
“These kids didn’t speak any English and I spoke no Vietnamese. Our language was sport. We shared in victory, played under common rules, and encouraged the same teammates. It[ACE] renewed my love for sport and reminded me how powerful and beautiful sport is. It was the opportunity of a lifetime, one that bettered me as a student-athlete when I returned to Duke after that summer and one we are so fortunate to have as part of the Duke student-athlete experience.”
