While participating in ACE in India during the summer of ’17, Taylor Kirkpatrick, Stanford Women’s Sailing, taught and coached youth with a focus on educational and leadership development through sports. Now back at Stanford, Kirkpatrick continues to foster her teaching and communicative skillset by participating in Once Upon a Cause, a Writing and Rhetoric course that seeks to examine the historical and social implications of children’s picture-book making. Kirkpatrick, alongside 3 fellow Stanford undergraduates, co-authored Bill the Bird, a beautiful bird unable to fly, who “find[s] the courage to reach out on the playground to Sally the Squirrel, who’s also lonely.”
