Participating in the ACE in Costa Rica program is worth it to me because it is an exciting opportunity to immerse myself in a foreign culture and be active in the local community. I am excited to learn more about environmental conservation and being around the Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge.
Cam’s past experiences with community engagement includes setting up a charity foundation in honor of former youth soccer coach to carry on his legacy of giving back to the community. Organized virtual tutoring program in conjunction with Duke Soccer and Millbrook United Methodist Church to help teach English to non-native elementary students. Fundraised over $7,000 to purchase winter coats for local children and food distribution for local families.
