Being a part of the ACE program not only provides the opportunity to go abroad and see the world, but a chance to give back to the local community in a hands-on way. I am excited to learn from and build relationships with the people of Vietnam and to share the experience with my fellow ACE team members.
As part of the ACE in Vietnam program, participants will teach academics, sports and life skills to students at under-resourced middle schools in the Mekong Delta with the aim of encouraging them to prepare for higher education.
Haley’s past experiences with service include involvement in Students for a Sustainable Stanford
Haley is a sophomore on the Stanford Women’s Diving Team. She is planning on majoring in communications with a minor in earth systems. Born and raised in San Clemente, California, Haley has a passion for the outdoors, and hopes to do more international traveling post-grad, ideally in a way that will allow her to work with communities on issues like education and sustainability. As a member of ACE in Vietnam 2017, she taught English and dance, and enjoyed every second of it. The program truly impacted her understanding of the world and herself in a way she could have never imagined, and she plans to go back someday to visit her friends.
