The photo above is of Taylor and me on our first day working in Pongobamba. We arrived early in the morning to a school in Pongobamba, a community about an hour north of Cusco. Around eighty community members gathered at the school with us that day in order to build farming terraces and work on the greenhouse. I was surprised that so many parents would skip a day of work to finish a manual labor project at the local school.  This would have been unheard of in my school district at home, but I admired how committed everyone in Pongobamba was to bettering their community for the children. It was amazing to see everyone come together and conquer this project. I felt so lucky that I could be a part of it!
