Meible Chi is a junior on the Women’s Tennis Team at Duke. She is majoring in Evolutionary Anthropology, minoring in Biology and Chemistry, and is pursuing the pre-medicine track. Having grown up with a Chinese heritage, Meible felt that the ACE in China program was a wonderful opportunity to fully immerse herself into a culture that is part of her identity. The program allowed Meible to continue building her leadership, collaborative, and interpersonal skills. Isabelle Pilson is a sophomore at Stanford on the Women's Field Hockey Team. She was a member of the 2019 ACE Vietnam trip where she taught English, coached soccer, and helped lead the Blue Team. The experience blew her away, as she loved and learned lots from connecting with the children, spending time with the ACE group and Vietnamese college students, exploring the country, and promoting positive change. In Vietnam, Isabelle realized her passion for working in developing nations and, now, plans to major in Environmental Systems Engineering with a goal of initiating and developing sustainable practices all around the world. AnaClare Sole is from Houston, Texas and grew up sailing on Galveston Bay before joining the Stanford Sailing Team. She has competed in many international competitions including 3 world championships and the 2019 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina were she was amongst 4000 International Athletes from over 200 countries. She loves meeting people from all over the world and getting to know their culture and perspectives. She is an Architectural Design major and is passionate about creating spaces. This summer she participated in the "ACE in Place" online engagement experience. During weekly Zoom sessions, she enjoyed meeting other Stanford and Duke athletes and deepening her community-engagement skills. She is looking forward to taking Design for Extreme Affordability at Stanford and hopes to use the skills she learns in this class to do community development work, environmental conservation and infrastructure projects with ACE in the future.

Eve Micco is a junior on the Stanford Women's Gymnastics Team. She is studying management science and engineering with a concentration in operations and data analytics. Eve participated in the first ever year of ACE in Place. This offered her a unique ACE experience and provided her with the opportunity to learn more about ethical service, meet other ACE participants, and more. She is hoping to share her experience with teammates and other student athletes to encourage them to learn more about ACE.

Kristina Foreman is a junior double majoring in Biology and Evolutionary Anthropology with a minor in Chemistry on the Women's Softball Team. She is involved in the Duke community, demonstrated through her participation in Athletes in Action, CAPE (Collegiate Athlete Pre-medical Experience). She has also illustrated her love of service work through her membership on the softball team's community service committee. In summer 2020, Kristina was supposed to carry out her civic engagement work in Cusco, Peru, but due to COVID-19, she participated in the alternative program ACE in Place during the summer. Through Ace in Place, Kristina developed relationships with her peers from Stanford and learned what it meant to do ethical service work. In the future, Kristina plans to use what she learned in this past summer to become an ACE Ambassador and eventually travel to Peru to carry out her service work.

Kayla Thomas is a junior on the Stanford Women's Rowing Team, and she is majoring in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. She has been passionate about service from a young age, and saw applying to ACE as the perfect opportunity to combine her passion for helping others with her passion for travel. She was supposed to attend the 2020 ACE in Peru session, but due to COVID-19, participated in ACE in Place. She loves being a part of a community of like-minded, caring athletes and is excited to continue to share her passions with others.

Mackenzie Pluck is a junior on the Women's Soccer Team from North Wales, PA majoring in Psychology, minoring in Visual Arts while pursuing an MMS certificate. Mackenzie Participated in ACE in Place for the 2020 virtual ACE program. Throughout her virtual ACE experience, Mackenzie had the opportunity to build relationships with student athletes across the country while learning about both the importance of civic engagement internationally as well as locally in the United States. Although she did not physically attend the ACE in South Africa program as originally planned, she greatly appreciated the opportunity to stay involved and learn from ACE alums and international speakers throughout the summer. Mackenzie is really excited to encourage other student athletes to get involved with ACE and to truly embrace the unknowns ahead of us throughout these unprecedented times.

Marykate McGuire is a junior on the Duke Women's Soccer Team. She is majoring in Political Science and minoring in Psychology. The South Africa program was the perfect opportunity for Marykate to experience another culture and engage in service. The program was an excellent connection between her love for learning, service, and her sport, to connect with a community that celebrated and enjoyed the same activities. She is looking forward to contributing as an ACE Ambassador to help future participants be prepared for an incredible journey and opportunity that will change their perspective and increase their passion for service and community.
