Emily Durham, Program Director

Emily Durham is the founding Program Director of the Rubenstein Student-Athlete Civic Engagement Program (ACE) which provides immersive, international service experiences for Duke D-I student-athletes. ACE, originally established through a partnership with Stanford Athletics, stands as a unique program in the NCAA, impacting over 300 student-athletes over the past eight years.

With more than fifteen years of experience in international higher education, Emily holds a B.A. in English from Pomona College, a master’s degree in higher education from UPenn, and a certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke. After graduating from Pomona, she spent a year on a Fulbright Fellowship in Hongseong, South Korea where she taught English in a public elementary school, lived with a host family, and volunteered at a local youth center. Prior to her time with ACE, Emily served as the Assistant Director of Programs at DukeEngage overseeing faculty and staff-led international and US-based community engagement programs. A North Carolina native and former collegiate student-athlete, Emily loves exploring her home state, cooking Korean food, and spending time outdoors. She’s made it her personal goal to attend every athletic competition at Duke at least once!

Headquartered at Duke University, Emily oversees all administrative and programmatic functions of the ACE program.
