Two hundred and eighty-one student-athletes from Duke and Stanford Universities have collectively participated in an ACE program since the program’s launch in the summer of 2016. Hailing from California to North Carolina, and everywhere in between, our ACE participants represent a wide variety of athletic teams, class years, and academic interests. ACE 2023

ACE offered four programs this summer, three in-person, international-based programs and one virtual program. The past summer’s programs were a result of collaborative efforts between the ACE staff, ACE Ambassador alumni, and community partners working together to bring ACE back to in-person programming and continue to provide meaningful in-person and virtual service experiences to Duke and Stanford student-athletes.

ACE 2022


ACE offered five programs this summer, four virtual and one, new, U.S.-based program in Colorado. The past summer’s programs were a result of collaborative efforts between the ACE staff, ACE Ambassador alumni, and community partners working together to bring ACE back to in-person programming and continue to provide meaningful in-person and virtual service experiences to Duke and Stanford student-athletes.

ACE in Place 2021

ACE offered five virtual service programs focused on supporting community-based organizations located in Peru, South Africa, Thailand, and Vietnam (two sessions). Building off the success of ACE in Place 2020 and virtual prototype programs that were tested by ACE Ambassadors in Dec. 2020 and Jan. 2019, virtual programs allowed ACE the opportunity to continue to offer impactful summer service experiences for Duke and Stanford student-athletes in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

ACE 2020 (ACE in Place)

After COVID-19 led to the cancellation of international travel, ACE developed “ACE in Place” – an optional five-week online engagement experience for our 2020 accepted student-athletes. ACE in Place provided participants with the opportunity to join the ACE community and prepare for future engagement experiences. ACE in Place participants took part in a weekly skills-building Zoom session led by university staff and community partners, as well as weekly community-building Zoom conversations led by Peer Ambassador Leaders (PALs).

    • 34 participants (of the total 40) who were originally accepted in our 4 programs

    • 11 ACE program alums volunteered to co-lead and mentor the 2020 ACE cohort through community-building Zoom conversations
