Senior Duke Women’s Soccer player and ACE in South Africa ’18 alum Kayla McCoy was recently named United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American and Google Cloud Academic All-America Third Team. This past summer, McCoy participated in the ACE in South Africa Program, where she spent three weeks assisting in running a sports school holiday program for children in the informal community of Nomzamo Township near Gordon’s Bay.
United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American Stats: “McCoy is the 19th player in Duke women’s soccer history to be named an All-American and the 14th to receive a nod from the United Soccer Coaches. The Lincolnwood, Ill., native is the sixth player to receive first team honors by the association and the fourth in the last three seasons, joining Christina Gibbons(2016), Imani Dorsey (2017) and Rebecca Quinn (2017). Google Cloud Academic All-America Third Team Stats: “McCoy is the seventh player Blue Devil to receive the honor from CoSIDA and marks the ninth honor in program history. This marks the third-straight season a Blue Devil has received the award, with Imani Dorsey named third team in 2016 and second team in 2017. Christina Gibbons joined Dorsey in 2016, being named to CoSIDA’s second team.
