“[ACE] is a great opportunity for me as a student-athlete to travel abroad and participate in service in a place I may not have had the chance to visit.”
Kayla’s past experiences with service include volunteering at a local psychology clinic and participating in CAPE, a program at Duke which provides pre-med student-athletes with the unique opportunity to shadow and learn from some of the country’s leading doctors. Kayla is also a mentor for Duke’s Athletes in Action, a faith-based student-athlete group. In high school, Kayla traveled to the Dominican Republic, where she volunteered at an orphanage and helped with construction work.
