Participating in ACE this summer is worth it for me because I am very interested in learning about the diversity of African cultures. My family adopted two boys from Uganda, and I have since had a strong desire to engage with the wide array of cultural diversity throughout Africa.
As part of the Duke in South Africa program, Taylor will assist with basic healthcare initiatives, activity-based education and teaching, light construction, and sports programs in the community of Nomzamo township near Cape Town.
Taylor’s past experiences with service include work as a research assistant at the Immigration Lab with Stanford Summer Research and as Newsletter Editor for Stanford Democrats. Her team participates in volunteer service at a local children’s hospital and homeless shelter.
