Having gratitude for the little things in life is something we actively focused on during our trip, and to say I’m grateful for this experience would be an understatement. Coming into the program, I was really excited and open-minded about whatever was in store. I didn’t really know what to expect, but from the stories and personal accounts I’d heard from past participants, I knew it was going to be special.
“As a result of our time here I grew as a listener, a worker, a leader, and a friend”
Our time in Peru was far from easy; the days were long and the experience really challenged all of us both mentally and physically. It pushed me far outside my comfort zone and made me think critically about a lot of aspects of my life and challenges. As a result of our time here I grew as a listener, a worker, a leader, and a friend; I learned lessons and built relationships that will last forever; and I built upon my understanding of the importance of perspective and humility. Coming back to that first word, I am beyond grateful for the three weeks we lucky enough to spend as a member of this program, and look forward to using what we’ve learned to make a positive impact back at home.
