The men of Pongobamba invited us to join in a game of “keep it up,” which we simply could not refuse. It’s clear to us that the passion for soccer unifies both urban and rural communities in Peru.

After a morning of hard work, we were warmly welcomed into a local home, where we were served an authentic Peruvian lunch. The pride taken in hospitality by the Pongobamban community is clear and made us feel right at home.

Pongobamban adults come together to improve the greenhouse terraces. It’s exciting to see people within a community take time and action from their own personal lives and work to improve education for children and environmental sustainability for future generations as a single unit.
