Duke Magazine (Fall 2017) featured Michelle Staggers, ACE in India alum (’16) and current ACE Ambassador, who thanked the Duke Forward campaign for helping fund her ACE experience:
“During Duke Forward, your support played a direct role in creating unforgettable experiences for students like Michelle Staggers ’19. Staggers is a Duke women’s lacrosse player who participated in the Rubenstein-Bing Student-Athlete Civic Engagement Program (ACE). She received campaign funding to participate in the ACE in India program in 2016 and served as an ACE ambassador in 2017. In her work abroad, Staggers served as a coaching assistant and promoted literary initiatives at a youth center in New Delhi. She saw the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as a step toward pursuing a career in international affairs. From her experience, she says, ‘At the end of the day we are all people, looking for happiness, fighting for safety and seeking out love…'”
