Participating in the ACE program is very important to me because it is an amazing opportunity to continue doing what I love, teaching and coaching, in another country. Also, I think that going to Vietnam will give me more experience and a better understanding of other cultures, while helping students in Vietnam learn more about our culture.”
As part of the ACE in Vietnam program, Alyse will teach academics, sports and life skills to students at under-resourced middle schools in the Mekong Delta with the aim of encouraging them to prepare for higher education.
Alyse’s past experiences with service include membership in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. She has also done volunteer work with her team offering free clinics for Durham children and giving lessons at the TROSA center to substance abuse recovery program participants.
