To be a part of a program that encourages me to become a better servant-leader, teammate, and friend, while also catering specifically to the needs of student-athletes is a unique and amazing opportunity that I could not pass up. I am beyond excited and humbled to be a small part of this incredible ACE community.
As part of the ACE in India program, participants will be teaching and coaching children and youth, with a focus on educational and leadership development through sports and teaching English and other subjects in classrooms.
Jaida’s past experiences with service include volunteering with World Vision and in food pantries and homeless shelters. She is involved in several student-athlete groups on campus, including representing her team on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, advising first-year student-athletes as an ACTION Mentor, leading Bible Study for Athletes in Action, and being involved with the Women’s Leadership Initiative (for female student-athletes interested in the legal profession). She has spoken to local elementary school students through “Reading with the Blue Devils.” She has also worked with Duke Athletics and Project Life to sign people up for the bone marrow registry.
