For Summer 2023, ACE offered three in-person, international-based programs focused on supporting community-based organizations located in Costa Rica, South Africa, and Vietnam and one virtual program that supported community partners in Thailand. Forty Duke and Stanford student-athletes representing 24 different sports teams participated. Across the four programs, ACE student-athletes contributed over 4,260 hours of service with organizations focused on youth development, education, sustainability and marine conservation, food insecurity, and sports enrichment.

ACE in Person Programs

ACE in Costa Rica

Program Focus: Contributing to the long-term management and conservation of Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge and working on conservation-focused projects with local community members in the Costa Rican village of Gandoca to promote wildlife and ecosystem conservation and sustainable resource use. ACE in South Africa

Program Focus: Contributing to self-empowerment and sustainable development projects in communities around Cape Town through educational workshops and supporting local outreach and educational awareness programs. Learn more.

Program Focus: Partnering with Vietnamese college students to teach academics, sports, and life skills at a summer camp to middle school youth in rural Vietnam, with a focus on mentorship and promoting higher education. Learn more.
