I see ACE as a unique opportunity to participate in civic engagement abroad in order to learn, grow, contribute and connect with members of the communities being served. I believe this program will allow me to develop and strengthen foundational qualities of empathy, adaptability, and perseverance as I open my mind to new relationships and perspectives and work within a team to create a meaningful impact.
Chelsea’s past experiences with community engagement includes organizing school involvement in local and national charity events such as the Balmoral Burn run for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, Clean up Australia Day, and the Red Shield Appeal to raise money for the Salvation Army.
Within her school community, she implemented changes such as sourcing recyclable toilet paper from a foundation dedicated to improving sanitation worldwide, implementing sustainable packaging in the school canteen and volunteering to lead peer support groups, coach learn to row programs, and mentor younger students as a community prefect.
