Since my first year here, I’ve craved an opportunity to travel and meet new people from cultural backgrounds different from my own, and that has only recently become feasible with ACE. The ACE in China program is an incredible opportunity to learn with and from new people, as well as to bridge connections across cultural difference, and that is fundamental to personal and collective social development.”
As part of the ACE in China program, Tanner will contribute to the sustainable development of underserved communities through youth environmental education and sports while learning about conservation and preservation in Yunnan Province.
Tanner’s past experiences with service include participation on the Duke Men’s Project, in the Student-Athletic Advisory Committee, Duke Student Alumni Board, and the Duke Peer Tutor Program.
